On its "Room for Debate" blog, the New York Times is running a series of posts on immigration as a way to start a national dialogue on the issues.
They first took a look at the best ways to educate newcomers to the US, which included additional responses from readers and educators. The series then moved on to the competition for low-wage jobs between immigrants and native US citizens.
Many local areas are dealing with issues related to immigration and the workforce and these articles offer some interesting perspectives and ideas. They also give us food for thought as we consider GSETA's focus on making everyone ready for employment. Definitely worth a look if your WIB area is struggling with these challenges.
