Bronwyn Mauldin points us to a recently-released report on how One Stop services can be improved. Two key recommendations that would improve the return on investment to $3.90 in benefits for every $1 spent on the system:
- Improve accountability systems so that core services aren't undervalued, and
- Double funding for the One-Stops from $4 billion to $8 billion annually.

He also argues that training programs could be improved by providing more counseling for clients to ensure that they're placed in the right training programs. Too many people are shuffled into training programs without adequate screening, preparation or support.
According to Jacobon's report, one study indicated that of the 15% of job seekers who signed up to attend training classes, 40% failed to complete even one course. On average, even students who completed a course finished fewer than two courses in a high-return field such as health or information
technology.
